“Comparing Me to Chile One Is Unnecessary, I Want Real Competition” – Yo Maps Fires Back

Zambian music heavyweight Yo Maps, born Elton Mulenga, has finally addressed the comparisons that refuse to die and he’s not impressed, speaking candidly, the hitmaker made it clear that being placed side by side with “Ba Neighbor” star Chile One does absolutely nothing for him, “Comparing Me to Chile One Is Unnecessary” – Yo Maps

According to Yo Maps, not all competition is healthy, and not every comparison deserves airtime. While he welcomes rivalry that sharpens his craft and forces growth, he believes some narratives are simply lazy and pointless.

Appearing on Power TV’s Muchimuzi Top 10, the international artiste didn’t mince his words. He said he thrives on competition, but only the kind that challenges him at a higher level. Anything else, he says, is just noise.

“I love competition, I need it,” Yo Maps explained. “But there’s a certain competition I really need right now. Some of it feels completely unnecessary to me.”

He went on to state bluntly that comparing him to Chile One misses the point entirely. In his view, Chile One is following a path Yo Maps has already walked—one he believes he’s long outgrown.

“Comparing me to Chile One is unnecessary,” he said. “It works for him because he’s trying to do what I already did before.”

Backing up his confidence with receipts, Yo Maps highlighted his milestones as proof of his position in the industry. From filling Showgrounds, dominating music clubs repeatedly, to performing at Heroes Stadium, he reminded viewers that these are levels many local artistes have yet to reach.

“These are milestones other local artistes haven’t reached yet,” he added.

Rather than getting caught up in local comparisons, Yo Maps revealed that his real benchmarks are far beyond Zambia’s borders. He measures himself against continental giants like Stonebwoy, Rema, Diamond Platnumz, and Harmonize, artistes he believes truly push him to evolve.

He concluded by emphasizing that competition should inspire growth, not unnecessary drama, and that his focus remains on elevating his brand to global standards—not entertaining shallow rivalries.
