Allegedly Zambian Lavender Marriages Exposed (Read)

Zambian social media is currently on fire, timelines smoking, group chats overheating, all thanks to what’s being allegedly exposed as lavender marriages. And no, this isn’t the kind of marriage for the dancefloor if you don’t know what a lavender marriage is, rewind and read our previous post before your emotions sprint ahead of your brain.

This whole circus kicked off on TikTok, under an account called GIO, where the creator woke up one day and chose chaos. Out of nowhere, names started flying public figures, almost-public figures, and “people-you-know-if-you-know” all being loosely linked to alleged lavender marriages. No filters. No fear. Just vibes and accusations.

Now let’s be clear before the lawyers warm up their keyboards: these claims are alleged, speculative, and fueled by social media smoke rather than verified fire. But that hasn’t stopped the internet from doing what it does best investigating with zero qualifications and unlimited confidence.

The running narrative? These unions aren’t about romance or fairytale love. They’re described as covers for safety, careers, finances, reputation, brand protection, or simply surviving a judgment-heavy society. Not love stories. More like PR strategies with wedding rings.

What many people are pretending to discover now is old news globally. Lavender marriages didn’t start in Zambia. Hollywood has been running this playbook since black-and-white TV days, when careers could end over whispers. Zambia is just late to the conversation or late to admitting it’s been happening all along.

Among the many names floating around, one couple that caught major attention online is Lisa Mutuli and her husband, with commenters alleging the marriage is more presentation than passion. Others dragged into the chatter include Peter My Life and Chanda Brian’s ex, despite not being married, with social media detectives inventing theories that sound like rejected soap opera scripts.

Even cryptic posts joined the madness, with Uncle KOKO dropping coded messages that had people playing “connect the dots” like it’s a national exam. Meanwhile, Ben Lombe, openly gay and unapologetic, threw petrol on the fire by subtly calling out alleged DL men, basically saying: stop hiding, stop pretending, and stop borrowing wives as alibis.

Again and read this slowly these are allegations. No court rulings. No hard evidence. Just screenshots, TikToks, whispers, and Zambia’s favourite sport: speculation. Whether GIO exposed something real or simply unlocked Pandora’s rumour box is still up for debate.

But one thing is certain: the internet has spoken, the streets are watching, and lavender marriages are no longer a “don’t ask, don’t tell” topic in Zambia. The whispers are loud now
